The capstone project entitled “Online Job Application System with Job Matching Feature” is an online platform for job application. The system have additional job matching feature for job seekers.

Every day, numbers of job applicants are increasing which makes the conventional way of job application inefficient. Job seekers are used to apply for jobs personally wherein they go to the company where they desire to work and prepare their resumes and other job requirements in a hard copy to be submitted to the HR of the company. The conventional way will not also contribute to the company in finding suitable candidates if they will only accept through paper application and would not reach a huge numbers of job applicants. This process is inconvenient for both parties, the job applicants and the HR managers. This process consumes too much time and effort to finish the whole application process and may encounter physical barriers and time constraints. What we need is an easy, fast and convenient platform for job application.

Proposed Solution

To address the above mentioned problems, the researchers of this study aim to design and develop an online platform for job application. The system will allow the job seekers to search and process their application electronically. The system will also let the job seekers utilize the job matching feature for fast and easy job searches. The online job application system will help the job seekers process their job application without personally going to the company and it will also help the HR personnel in effectively manage different job applications. The proposed solution will eliminate the inefficiency encountered in the conventional way.

Objectives of the Study

General Objective- the main objective of this research study is to design and develop a system which will serve as an online platform for job application along with a job matching feature.

Specific Objectives

The specific objectives of the study are the following:

  1. The system is design to be used by both job applicants and HR managers.
  2. To provide an online platform for job seekers.
  3. To design a system where job applications takes place and were processed.
  4. The system will let the HR managers manage job applications effectively with improve respond time.

Significance of the Study

The following group or individuals will benefit from this project:

Job Seekers. This project will help them conveniently process their job applications. They can also use the job matching feature for fast and easy job searches.

HR Managers. This system will help them in managing job applications and they can have a lot of choices for the right person fitted for the job.

Researchers. The success of the study will benefit to the knowledge and skills of the researchers in automating problems encountered in manual processes. This is also an opportunity for the researchers to showcase their skills in programming, database, and research.

Future Researchers. They can use this study as a baseline of their future study related to this project.

Development Tools

The proposed system includes different components to be used by the researchers.

The researchers used Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), and Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) as primary development tools on developing the proposed system.

PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor). For web development and used as a general-purpose programming language.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language).  The standard markup language used to create web pages.

MySQL. Used for database in web applications.

Notepad++.  Text editor which supports several programming languages.

Cascading Style Sheet (CSS).  Used for describing the look and formatting of a document written in a markup language.
