Web Based Student Portal in PHP, MySQL and Bootstrap

Web Based Student Portal in PHP, MySQL and Bootstrap

Purpose of the study

The purpose of this study was to improve the existing system on accessing the student’s grade from the manual operation to online, it’s also provide to look the picture or the background of school areas, activities or event and the list of the faculties.

This can help the high scholar students to access their grades anytime, anywhere and also it can help them to tour themselves into a subject we provides in this program. This has a great advantage to the students as well as to the school personnel. This will also provide the student a more reliable, accurate, user-friendly way of accessing their grades with improved efficiency and speed.

Software Design

The researchers used popular language in creating the system. PHP scripting language is used in building the interface of application. PHP is an acronym for “PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor”. PHP is a server scripting language, and a powerful tool for making dynamic and interactive Web pages.

MySQL provides a way for the client to access a wide range of database. Structured Query Language is a set of function of calls, codes and data type that can be used to develop database independent application. The SQL is used in building and creating database as well. It is the most popular Open Source SQL database management system.

XAMMP is a free and open source cross-platform web server solution stack package, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.

OBJECTIVES OF STUDY

However, our system is student’s portal unlike job portal, our system manipulates school events, school updates, and our system can map an area where you can go through or search information about the school preferences. The beauty of our system explains at the significance of the study.

  • To search student’s grades and school information faster and easier
  • Web interface to courseware and required information about courses
  • Increase lifelong learning opportunities
  • Financial aid information, class schedule, graduation checks
  • Access to the communities of interest within the university, sports club and community services opportunities

Analytical Tools

The analytical tools used in conducting the proposed study are the Program flowchart, DFD (Data Flow Diagram), and IPO (INPUT PROCESS OUTPUT), VTOC (Visual Table of Contents). The following tools are further explained below to provide better understanding.

Program Flowchart Is a diagram that represents an algorithm, workflow or process that shows the steps using various kinds of boxes to distinguish a process or element from one another.

Data Flow Diagram (DFD) Data Flow Diagram (DFD) A DFD shows the actual process of data transfer from one process to another. The diagram shows what data is needed for the input to produce a certain output from the system and the data storage where the data can be stored for future reference. Included here is the existing system used by the company and the proposed system by the proponents.

Visual Table of Contents (VTOC) This is a chart which shows in graphical from the details of data flow within a specific computer program. There is usually an increase in the amount of detail shown from the top of the chart to the bottom. This tool helps us to see the whole interface of the system that acts as an intermediary between the program and the users.

Input Process Output (IPO) A graphical representation of all the factors that make up a process. An input-process-output diagram includes all of the materials and information required for the process, details of the process itself, and descriptions of all products and by-products resulting from the process.
