Introduction of the Study

Food Order and Catering Services System is a capstone project design to be used by food business industries. The system will allow customers to order food online and will also allow restaurants or any food businesses to accept and manage orders placed over the internet. The system will also allow booking of catering services.

Food is a basic need which people consume every day. Aside, from homemade food, a lot of people are also fond of eating foods from restaurants. People usually go to their favorite restaurants to dine but this method is not convenient at all times due to physical barriers and time constraints. Purchasing foods outside home is hard for busy people and for those who are too lazy to go out. For catering services, the manual process is to reserve for it personally. Those who wish to avail for catering services would personally book reservation which requires a lot of effort and time. It is what the people and restaurant owner’s need is a platform where food ordering transaction is convenient and easy.

Proposed Solution

The proposed solution for the above mentioned problems is the food order and catering services system which will make food transaction go online. The system will be used by two sides, the customers and the restaurant personnel who is in-charge for the customer’s order. The customer can browse and order for food online. Reservation and booking of catering services is also available in the system. The system is easy to use and convenient for customers. This will improve the existing manual system of ordering for food.

Objectives of the Study

General Objective – the main objective of this project is to design and develop a system which will serve as a platform for food ordering and catering services.

The following are the specific objectives of the study:

  1. To create a feature of the system that will let the customer’s order for food online.
  2. The system is also design for reserving and booking catering services.
  3. To design a system that can satiate hungry stomach in an instant.
  4. Create a project that will let the customer’s order for food conveniently and in a hassle-free manner.
  5. To develop a system that is easy and efficient to use.

Significance of the Study

The following are the individuals or groups that will benefit from this project:

Customers. It will be easy for them to order for food just by using the system. They would not need to personally go and buy for food.

Restaurant Owners. This will help them a lot more customers due to the convenience it’ll brought. The system will help them manage the orders of their customer online.

Researchers. The success of this project will contribute to their skills in programming. This will help them to come up with more ideas to provide solution to different problems.

Future Researchers. They can use this study as reference if they wish to pursue the same study.

Bootstrap – used for the front-end and user interface of the project.

PHP – used to connect to the database and functions of the projects such as the CRUD (create, update, delete).

MySQL/MariaDB – used as the database and storage of the system.

XAMPP – is a software package used for offline development.
