 Introduction of the Study

“Construction Project and Monitoring Billing System” is a capstone project which is intended to be used in construction project management. The system will provide functions such as providing feedback on the construction progress for tracking and monitoring, as well as with a billing system to simplify the payment processes between clients and staff.

In the conventional way, construction monitoring billings are done manually. For monitoring, the construction site will be physically inspected by the in-charge construction team and clients which would be time consuming and exhausting. For billing system, paper invoices are mostly used and payments are done personally which is not efficient for both the clients and the staffs. The manual method in monitoring and billing of construction project is difficult due to physical barriers and inevitable circumstances. The construction team needs a monitoring and billing system that does not require physical interactions.

Proposed Solution

To resolve the difficulties in the manual method mentioned above, the researcher of the study proposed a Construction Project Monitoring and Billing system that will ease up the monitoring and billing processes in construction projects. All monitoring activities will be carried out by the use of the system to ensure the progress of the project. The said project will also automate the payment processes to the workers for fast and convenient billing system.  The system will be efficient and convenient to use.

Objectives of the Study

General Objective – the main objective of the project is to design and develop a system that will automate the monitoring and billing processes of construction projects.

The project specifically aims the following objectives:

  1. To develop a system that will cater all construction monitoring and billing processes needed.
  2. The system will serve as a platform for updates between individuals in the construction team.
  3. To design an effective construction monitoring and billing system that will surpass the traditional way.
  4. The system will be accurate, reliable and convenient for the users.
  5. Test and improve the system in terms of functionality and reliability.
  6. Evaluate the performance of the system using the ISO 25010 criteria for quality software.

Significance of the Study

The success of the project is deemed beneficial to the following:

Construction Company/Manager. The system will help them monitor the construction site. Individuals in the construction team can communicate and exchange updates regarding the progress of the project.

Clients. Output of the system will help them be updated about the progress of the construction and at the same time speed up the payment processes to their workers and staffs.

Researchers. The researchers of this project will gain more knowledge and skills in developing helpful technology-assisted systems that will help the public.

Future Researchers. They can use this study as a basis if they want to create their own construction monitoring and billing system or a project that is related to the said study.

Development Tools of the project

The project will be designed and developed using the following technologies and development tools: a) Bootstrap will be used for the front-end and and user interface of the project. It is also a tool to develop responsive web application. b) PHP is a server side scripting language used to create and develop dynamic web pages and application. c) MySQL/MariaDB will be used for the database or storage of records.
