Description

Learning and practicing math is more fun when it’s part of a game that’s why the researchers proposed this android based math learning app in order for the students to gain more creative methods in learning basic math concepts. This project is an example of elearning using the android devices. The said application will be developed in jquery mobile, it is a html5 based  framework for creating responsive web and mobile application.

Objectives

The main objective of the study is to develop an android based math learning app.

Specifically, the objectives of the study are:

  1. To develop an android based application that provides a secure and private way of learning that the low and slow learners can be able to absorb the lessons and acquire skills in a more easy and convenient way.
  2. To develop an android based application that provides a method of teaching where students can learn the lessons quickly.
  3. To develop android based application that serves as a remedial lesson for students who are slow learners in math subject.

Beneficiary

Instructors/Professors. The math learning app helps primarily to the one who is handling the subject for more effective teaching methodology and interactive teaching-learning processes.

Students. Using the math learning app, the students can easily interact to the teacher because drills are provided in each topic of the subject.

Researchers. This study will give the researchers a venue to further develop their programming skills. This study will also improve the research and thesis writing skills of the researchers.

PhoneGap is a mobile development framework produced by Nitobi, purchased by Adobe Systems in 2011. It enables software programmers to build applications for mobile devices using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, instead of relying on platform-specific APIs like those in iOS, Windows Phone, or Android.It enables wrapping up of HTML, CSS and Javascript code depending upon the platform of the device. It extends the features of HTML and Javascript to work with the device. The resulting applications are hybrid, meaning that they are neither truly native mobile application (because all layout rendering is done via web views instead of the platform’s native UI framework) nor purely web-based (because they are not just web apps, but are packaged as apps for distribution and have access to native device APIs).
