Android Based Feeds Scheduler Dispensing Application

Android Based Feeds Scheduler Dispensing Application

Introduction of the Study

The capstone project, titled,” Android Based Feeds Scheduler Dispensing Application” is an application available in android phones for scheduling and automating the dispensing of pet food at home. The application would enable pet owners to arrange the schedule of their pets’ feedings as well as the period when appropriate feed portions will be dispensed.

A lot of people welcomed animals as an addition to their homes, however, their needs are sometimes hard to decipher. Keeping track of how the pet eats, what it eats, and whether or not it is hungry while the owner is away can be stressful. The common problem of the pet owners when their away is how to feed their pets left at home.

Proposed Solution

To address the problem mentioned above, the researchers of the study proposed a Feeds Scheduler Dispensing Application that will be available to android phone users. The application will automate the schedule of dispensing feeds to the pets and will be connected to a wireless device that will feed the pet on the scheduled time without needing the physical supervision of the owner. The application is a great help to pet owners in attending the needs of their pets at home and at the same time continue in their other obligations outside home.

Objectives of the Study

General Objective – the main goal of this project is to design and develop a feeds scheduler dispensing application for Android phones in order to assist pet owners in managing their pets’ feeding schedules.

The specific objectives of the study are the following:

  1. To develop a program that will assist pet owners in feeding their pets.
  2. Design and develop an application that will enable pet owners arrange the schedule in feeding their pets at home.
  3. The application will be reliable by users in taking care of their pet’s feeding.
  4. Test and improve the system in terms of functionality and reliability.
  5. Create a mobile app Kotlin and SQlite.
  6. Evaluate the mobile application using a standard evaluation tool. The application will be evaluated on the following characteristics:
    1. Functionality
    2. Reliability
    3. Usability
    4. Efficiency
    5. Maintainability
    6. Portability

Significance of the Study

Pet Owners. The application will help them a lot in taking care of their pet’s feeding. They would not worry about their pets being hungry especially when they are not at home.

Researchers. The researchers of the study will benefit from the success of the study by gaining more knowledge and skills in developing useful programs.

Future Researchers.  They can use the study as a basis of their pursuit in developing a feeds scheduler dispensing application.

Development Tools

Software requirements

The software requirements as follows:

Android Operating System (OS): 4.0 to higher version

Android Studio – Is one of the tools that the researchers used as it is the code editor and the designer tool (www.ebookfrenzy.com)

Kotlin – Kotlin is a modern but already mature programming language aimed to make developers happier. It’s concise, safe, interoperable with Java and other languages, and provides many ways to reuse code between multiple platforms for productive programming.
