COVID-19 Facilities Information System ER Diagram

COVID-19 Facilities Information System ER Diagram

This article will walk you through the process of creating an entity relationship diagram, often known as an ERD, for the project entitled Covid-19 Facilities Information System.

Covid-19 Facilities Information System Description

The COVID-19 Facilities Information System (COVID-19 FIS) is a secure online system for maintaining and sharing information on COVID-19 facilities. The system is designed to allow public health officials, healthcare practitioners, and others to swiftly and readily locate COVID-19 establishments in their area.

Users will be able to gain access to information on the current status of the various facilities through the system. The system will display the availability of the rooms so that you may determine which facilities are still able to accommodate additional COVID patients. The system is a useful tool that the COVID-19 task force may use to find suitable institutions to which they can move patients, and it is easy to use.

There are numerous and diverse advantages of using information systems. Some of the most significant advantages are as follows:

Organizations may become more efficient and productive by automating tasks and providing people with the knowledge they need to accomplish their jobs efficiently.

  • Knowledge systems assist organizations in making better decisions by providing them with the information they require to make well-informed judgments. Improved decision-making
  • Reduction in expenses – By automating processes and providing employees with the tools they need to accomplish their jobs more efficiently, information systems can help organizations decrease costs.
  • Information systems can assist organizations in offering better customer service by providing personnel with the information they require in order to respond to client enquiries swiftly and effectively.
  • Improved security – Information systems can assist organizations in protecting their information by providing them with the security measures that they require to keep their data safe from unauthorized access.

ERD

This is the first phase of the development of the Covid-19 Facilities Information System, and it will serve as the foundation for the creation of the actual database that will be used by the system in the future. Covid-19 Facilities Information System

Using the Covid-19 Facilities Information System as an example, we will develop an entity relationship diagram and detail the methods that must be followed in order to finish the diagram generation. Starting with the symbols that are employed in the ER Diagram, let us discuss their meanings.

The rectangle shape represents the entity that is being shown in the diagram below. At some point in the future, we will use this entity to make a database table for our Covid-19 Facilities Information System.

The shape of a diamond can show how a relationship works, like how it fits together. A lot will depend on this. A primary key to foreign keys relationship is often the best way to do this.

The shape of the oval is a way to show the attribute for the entities specified. Columns or fields will be added to each table in the Covid-19 Facilities Information System, and this will be the case.

We will follow the 3 basic rules in creating the ER Diagram.

  1. Identify all the entities.
  2. Identify the relationship between entities and
  3. Add meaningful attributes to our entities.

Step 1. In the Covid-19 Facilities Information System we have the following entities:

  • Backup
  • User
  • Patient
  • Room Occupants
  • Room
  • Barangay

The Covid-19 Facilities Information System is divided into six tables, according to our methodology. As we work on the Covid-19 Facilities Information System database schema, here is what our database tables will look like as we progress. The database tables will be made up of these entities.

Step 2. After we have specified our entities, it is time now to connect or establish a relationship among the entities.

  • The user or admin can update and manage the information of the patient (1 to many relationship).
  • The user or admin can manage the room occupants’ information which includes the patient details and their specific room assignment of designation (1 to many relationship).
  • The administrator type of user can access the backup feature of the system which is very important part of data security (1 to many relationship).
  • The patient is registered only in one barangay (1 to 1 relationship).
  • The patient can only be assigned to a room once (1 to 1 relationship).

Step 3. The last part of the ERD process is to add attributes to our entities.

Summary

The COVID-19 Facilities Information System Entity Relationship Diagram depicts the entities and relationships that exist within the COVID-19 Facilities Information System, as shown in the figure below. Entity categories are represented by boxes, and relationships between entities are represented by lines linking the boxes.

It is necessary to model the relationships between entities in order to create entity relationship diagrams. They can be used to represent both the logical and physical models of a system, depending on the situation.

Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) can assist with the following tasks:

  • Create a model of the system’s structure.
  • Represent the relationships that exist between different entities.
  • Display the cardinality of relationships in a visual manner.
  • Identify and represent the relationships that exist between entities.
  • Recognize any potential issues with the system; and
  • Specify the system’s requirements in detail.
  • Keep track of how the system has changed over time.

In addition, we will also give you a PowerPoint or Video Presentation for the entire ER Diagram. Make sure you visit and subscribe to our YouTube channel to see the videos.
