The capstone project “City COVID-19 Profiling System with Decision Support” is designed to automate the process of profiling COVID-19 patients. The project will empower local health officers in electronically recording and managing COVID-19 patient information such as symptoms, travel history, and other critical details needed to identify patients. Manual profiling is prone to human mistakes, necessitates a lot of paperwork, and needs too much time and effort from the employees.

One of the most effective ways that the researchers have seen is the employment of a computerized system. The researchers aim to design, develop and implement a system that will ease up profiling of COVID-19 patients. By having the system, accurate and reliable information will be recorded to be able to arrive at helpful decisions to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Introduction of the Study

The capstone project, “City COVID-19 Profiling System with Decisions Support” will allow the City Health Office to automate the process of profiling COVID-19 patients in the local context. The system will assist the local health office to electronically record and manage information of COVID-19 patients. The said project will have a decision support system that will help the local health office arrive with the decision to provide a solution in combatting COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made the local health office deal with loads of information in managing and recording patients’ information in their locality. The local health officers are required to record the patient’s information especially their status either asymptomatic or symptomatic, travel history for contact tracing, and other essential information. Without a centralized system to record and manage the information of the COVID-19 patients, the local health officer may encounter difficulties. If COVID-19 patients profiling will be done manually, it requires a lot of paper works and will cost the staff to spend too much time and effort. The manual method is prone to human errors like incorrect and losing records of the COVID-19 patients.

The system will automate the process of profiling COVID-19 patients in the local context. Objectives of the Study

General Objective – The main goal of the project is to design and develop a COVID-19 Profiling System with Decision Support to effectively record and manage COVID-19 patient’s information.

Specifically, the project aims the following objectives:

  1. To develop a system that will streamline the process of profiling COVID-19 patients in the local context.
  2. To develop a system that will serve as a repository of information of the COVID-19 patients.
  3. The system will let scholarship organizations manage and securely store the COVID-19 patients.
  4. The system is easy, convenient, accurate, and reliable to use.

Scope of the Study

The researchers will develop a system that is intended for COVID-19 patients profiling. The system will be designed with features intended to record, classify the status of conditions and other important data that is necessary to records in dealing with COVID-19 patients. The study will be presented to the local government health officers that are in charge of recording COVID-19 patients data.

The result of the study showed significance, therefore the researchers concluded that the developed system is efficient and reliable to use.

As the result showed, the developed system will allow an accurate and reliable COVID-19 patients profiling. The local health officers can easily and conveniently do profiling which allows them t gather accurate data of the patients. Accurate data and profiling will help them arrive at decisions that will mitigate the spread of the virus. The researchers also highlight the importance of having enough knowledge on how to properly use the system.
