Project Context

The study entitled Mobile Based Calendar of Activities Scheduler with Push Notification is intended for (state your school). This system acts a medium for the Registrar, Sps and Sports to update all the students, faculty and staff of the institution about the schedule of the school events.

The Academic Council of (state your school). creates the academic calendar as a part of a planning phase of the institution for the academic school year. Academic calendar serves as an information source and planning document for students, faculty, staff and departments. The calendar includes registration dates, class start dates, add/drop deadlines, exam dates and more. It also includes all the schedules of the school events like foundation day and intramurals as well. A hardcopy of the academic calendar will be produced to be posted on all the bulletin boards inside the school to inform all the students, faculty and staff.

Since the academic calendar are just being posted in the bulletin boards. Some students are did not notice the posted schedule or sometimes forget the dates of the specific events specially the schedule of the important events like foundation day, intramurals, departmental day or examination date that result to insufficient preparation or to missed the event. The proponent believes that developing a mobile application that can remind not only the students, but also the faculty and staff of (state your school). can actually solve the problem. The Registrar, SPS and Sports who is responsible in posting schedules as well as reminding all the students about the events can used the proposed system to easily disseminate information. The Director of OSA will be the administrator of the system and can add, edit or delete schedule in page of the program of activities calendar. It can be accessed private internet so the administrator can post schedule anytime within the campus.

A Reminder Mobile Application is required to install to the android devices of all the student, faculty and staff that will be synchronized to the intranet program of activities calendar for them to be reminded about the schedule.

The proposed system will be developed using HTML and CSS to design the webpage of the administrator. PHP for server side scripting language and MySQL as the backbone for the mobile application reminder XML and JAVA are used to develop the application and SQLite as the backbone of the system. For the push notification we used Firebase.

Goals and Objectives of the Project

The main objective of the study is to design and develop Mobile Based Calendar of Activities Scheduler with Push Notification to help the school Administrator to disseminate information about the schedule or the events in a more efficient way.

  1. To gather all the needed requirements must be align in developing by use of different data gathering techniques.
  2. To design the logical flow and the physical design for the ease of the user.
  3. To identify the appropriate programming language that will be used to developed the system.
  4. To test and check that the software is running efficiently and with minimum errors.

Scope and Constraints

The Registrar and Administration is the one who is responsible in posting information about the schedule of an event to the bulletin boards of the schools. In connection with this, in the proposed the ICT department will act the administrator of the system.

The problem is to design and implement an Android App for creating Scheduler System by assigning the time slots. Instead of accessing the schedule in the PC’s or bulletin boards, the user can download the Android App to the mobiles and convenient to utilize it

To run the completed Scheduler system code on the emulator of the Android Studio then need to open the scheduler system project files and then run from a toolbar, and pick the android application. The schedule will sync on user’s device, and application prompt to update the users about the schedule edited and updated by the administrator it will prompt if the user turn on their mobile data within the campus.

The main components of this application are Database, User interface, Reminder, Server for maintaining and organizing the users and Push notification. Once the user has installed the apk file of the application in the respected Smartphone the first step will be authentication where in the application will prompt for distinct user’s information, this information will be stored in the database installed in the server computer and will be used further for acknowledgement.

The administrator is the one who is responsible in adding schedule, editing as well as deleting schedules by accessing the system online using their browsers.

The students, Faculty and staff of (state your school) is requiring to install a reminder mobile application in their android devices. The entire added schedule, added by the administrator can be viewed in their app by clicking a button to sync. They can view the entire schedule in a list view or in a calendar view.

Benefits and Impacts

The proposed Intranet Program of Activities Calendar Scheduler System with an Android-Based Reminder Mobile Application for College Department of (state your school) will benefit the educational institution in terms of efficiency and accuracy. Scheduling is an important tool for time management.

The Administrator. This would provide them with an Intranet Program of Activities Calendar Scheduler System with an Android-Based Reminder Mobile Application and it would give them a smooth and organized flow of transaction. The Administrator can add, delete and update the Program of Activities Schedule.

The Students. This would benefit them by receiving fast updates about the School event schedules. With having a well-organized time management, schedule would never be delayed and would prevent conflicts in the schedule.

The School. It would enhance and develop system in making schedules for students, faculty and staff.

Faculty. This would benefit them to know what the schedule posted in the mobile application and to remind them.

Proponents. This study also enhanced the programming skills of the proponent. New ideas and concepts gave the proponent advantage to learn new techniques and skills in programming structures that are not familiar.

The Future Researchers. This would help the future researchers to have an additional knowledge and idea when they conduct studies and make research similar with this study.
