The purpose of this project was to design a monitoring system that uses Wi-Fi and a low cost antenna. The design incorporated a user interface in which the user can input the MAC address of the teacher/students smart phone together with their personal information. The smartphone of the registered teacher/student must be connected to the Wi-Fi in order for them to be tracked or monitored in a 100 meter radius.
A media access control address (MAC address) of a computer is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces for communications at the data link layer of a network segment.
The researchers choose to record the MAC address of the devices in order to control or monitor only those devices that are registered to the system.
The major problem faced by our department is on how to monitor or track the location of the faculty and students inside the given parameter. This project will likely to solve the problem by using Wi-Fi to monitor the teacher and student using their smartphone.
Objectives of the study

The main objective of this study is to monitor and track active devices in the given range.
- Specific Objective
Specifically, it aimed to attain the following:
- To fabricate an improvised antenna that will detect active devices within 100 meter radius.
- To develop a system that will collect and input MAC addresses of devices.
- To develop a system that will monitor devices inside the radius; and
- To evaluate the systems capability thru the perception of end-users thru its:
- User-Friendliness; and
Scope and Limitation
The proposed project will only be limited to track and monitor several faculty member and students of our department (state your department here). The said project will also be limited to 100 meter radius since we are going to use a wireless router and an improvised antenna to monitor the devices. MAC address of the devices will be recorded/registered in the application in order for the system to monitor those devices.
Significance of the study
School Administrators/Department Head – this is very beneficial on the part of the administrators, for the reason that they can easily tell and locate if the students or faculty members is within the range of 100 meter radius.
Students and Faculty Members – it could be beneficial on the student/faculty side if let’s say for example they forgot where they place their mobile phone. The system can easily locate that as long as it is connected to the Wi-Fi and the device has been registered to the system and within the 100 meter radius.
Future Researchers – This study will give the future researchers the opportunity to further develop the project and enhance their skills in system design and development.
