Through this proposed study, the bus station would have a fast, tranquil and easy way of providing good and hassle free services to their customers. Regarding with the payment method, the customer will print the ticket after having a reservation online and present it in the bus cashier or they will pay it through bayad centers.

This proposed system provides an easy to use system not just for the customer but also for the employee to minimize the work that they will do. This system also provides the solution to the problems encountered by the customers in terms of the accessibility and timeliness.

Objectives of the Study

This study aims to develop an online bus ticketing and seat reservation system for bus station.

To achieve this aim, the specific objectives are:

  1. To determine the present bus ticketing and seat reservation system.
  2. To identify the problems encountered by the passengers and the bus companies.
  3. To define mechanism to notify status of booking reservation.

Scope and Limitations

This study focuses on two groups, the bus operators, and the customers. The bus operators are the administrator. They are able to view, add, and delete information and generate reports to help them with their operations. These activities will help the bus operators to see the progress of their ticket sales and to plan its company’s operations on how and what action to be taken.

The customer will be able to use this system to perform their transaction of buying bus tickets at their own time and place. The system can let the administrator and customers check the availability of seats, view the bus details and announcements. The systems also have features of rebooking and cancelling reservation. The system will be using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), PHP Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), Structure Query Language (SQL), and Cascading Style Sheet (CSS).

The system is through online and the updates will be sent through email of the customer within 24 hours. Also, the system let the customer contact the administrator through phone to cancel reservation and rebooking.

Significance of the Study

The outcome of the study will be beneficial to the following entity:

Bus Company. The proposed system once implemented, will able to help boost the sales of ticket and will increase revenues, due to improved services, and not only that, the bus company that will use the system can compete with other company in terms of the services.

Passengers. The proposed system will be able to minimize the time and effort that it takes to ride a bus. They will experience hassle free and lesser time in getting a seat in the bus.

Drivers. The drivers will experience hassle free and lesser time in waiting the bus to be full. The proposed system also help the drivers to monitor their schedule of their trip.

Researchers. The proposed system is beneficial to the researcher by gaining more programming knowledge and logical stimulation and knowing how to eliminate certain problems. They will utilize not only their skills in programming, but will also have to ensure and be sure that their program will be of greater help and will meet the entire user’s need.

Future Researcher/s. The proposed system will benefit the future researcher/s as guide or reference in their own efforts at any proposal or project. The researchers will enhance their analysis, knowledge and logical stimulation.
