Online Record Archiving of Soil Analysis Results

Abstract

Modern technology has made life easier and simpler to live. The advent of computer technologies is the reason behind the improvement of every industry and institution and the agriculture field is no exception. Technological advancements are the driving force behind the improvement in the agricultural field. It introduces a systematic approach to increase efficiency in agricultural productivity.

Soil analysis is a critical activity in the field of agriculture since the soil is the place where crops grow. Soil Analysis is the process of assessing soil fertility and nutrient level. This is to determine the amount of fertilizer needed to supplement the exact amount of nutrients needed by the crops to grow and prosper.

The capstone project, entitled “Online Record Archiving of Soil Analysis Results” is designed to be used by those in the field of agriculture. The system will serve as the online repository of Soil Analysis records. This will allow farmers to easily retrieve previous analysis reports that will help them determine changes in the fertility of soils. Conventionally, those in the field of agriculture manually keep records of the soil analysis result. This method is prone to human errors and data loss which will affect the productivity of agricultural producers. Thus, there is an intensified need to digitally transform the record-keeping of the soil analysis report.

The researchers use Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) technique in developing the project. The respondents of the study will be farmers and other personnel in the field of agriculture. The researchers used stratified random sampling after determining the sample size to reach the target respondents.

The implementation of the system will provide agricultural producers a platform to securely store soil analysis results. They can easily access the result to easily analyze and compare to the previous analysis result. With the help of the system, those in the field of agriculture can estimate the number of fertilizer nutrients needed to supplement those in the soil which will result in a reasonable chance to obtain the desired crop yield.

Introduction

The capstone project, “Online Record Archiving of Soil Analysis Results” is designed to securely store records of the soil analysis result. The said project will help the agricultural producer to track and compare records of soil analysis. This will help them determine the level of nutrients needed to supplement the soil in producing healthy crops.

Soil Analysis is the process of assessing soil fertility and nutrient level. This is to determine the amount of fertilizer needed to supplement the exact amount of nutrients needed by the crops to grow and prosper. Conventionally, those in the field of agriculture manually keep records of the soil analysis result. The soil analysis result is paper-based which requires physical storage. This method is prone to human errors and data loss. This is inefficient and will affect the proper assessment needed to produce a volume of healthy crops. There is an intensified need to digitally transform the record-keeping of soil analysis reports.

Proposed Solution

To address the aforementioned concerns, the researchers proposed the development of the Online Record Archiving of Soil Analysis Report. The system will serve as the online repository of Soil Analysis records. This will allow farmers to easily retrieve previous analysis reports that will help them determine changes in the fertility of soils. With the help of the system, the agricultural producer can estimate the amount of fertilizer and level of nutrients needed to supplement those in the soil which will result in a reasonable chance to produce a large number of healthy crops.

Objectives of the Study

General Objective – The general objective of the researchers is to design, develop and implement an Online Record Archiving Platform to securely store records of the soil analysis result.

Specifically, the researchers aim the following objectives:

  1. To provide a system that would securely store and keep records of the soil analysis result.
  2. To increase the accessibility and availability of soil analysis records.
  3. To provide a system that would serve as a centralized repository of Soil analysis records.
  4. To eliminate the manual method used in keeping records of soil analysis which is prone to human errors and inefficient.
  5. To let users have a fast, secure, and efficient way to compare records of soil analysis.

Scope of the Study

This study only covers the development process of an Online Record Archiving of Soil Analysis results. This study focus on designing, developing, and implementing an online platform to archive records of soil analysis. The project is limited to be used only by those in the field of agriculture. The respondents of the study will be farmers and other personnel in the field of agriculture. The researchers used stratified random sampling after determining the sample size to reach the target respondents.

Significance of the Study

The success of the project is deemed beneficial to the following individuals or groups:

Agricultural Sector. It will be convenient for them in keeping records of their soil analysis. They will be hassle-free. This will assure them that the results of their soil analysis will be kept securely.

Researchers. The study will further enhance the skills and knowledge of the researchers.

Future Researchers. The study will serve as their guide in developing their version of the project.

Conclusion

The researchers conducted the study to assess the methods used in storing records of Soil Analysis Results. The researchers have found out that agricultural producer still uses the manual method which is inefficient and outdated. Thus, the researchers developed an online platform for soil analysis results archiving. The developed system was presented to the intended users and respondents for evaluation. The result of the study showed that the developed system met the project requirement in terms of user acceptability, effectiveness, quality, productivity, and reliability. The majority of the respondents and target users have seen the potential of the system.

Therefore, the researchers concluded that the system is an efficient platform to safeguard the records of soil analysis. The developed system will provide agricultural producers a platform to securely store soil analysis results. They can easily access the result to easily analyze and compare to the previous analysis result. The system will eliminate all errors and difficulties encountered in the manual method.

Recommendations

The significant result of the study prompted the researchers to strongly recommend the implementation of the system. The system is recommended for its efficiency and dependability that can be rendered to the target users. IT will seamlessly streamline the process of archiving records of soil analysis results. The researchers also suggest that the intended users should familiarize how the system works to properly utilize it.

The researchers specifically recommend the following:

  1. The agricultural sector should consider the use of the system in assisting them with the critical process of analyzing the level of soil fertilizers and nutrients.
  2. The system is reliable in securely storing records of soil analysis.
  3. The system will make archiving of soil analysis result easy, fast, efficient, and accurate.
