Patient Record Keeping with Decision Support System

Patient Record Keeping with Decision Support System is designed in order to provide the management of the hospital an opportunity to process patient records with accuracy, accessibility, timely and efficiently. Assurance of safekeeping of every record likewise can be achieved by the use of automated system.

Data is stored in central server in the hospital; it can be accessed simultaneously from multiple terminals giving departments’ up-to-date patient information and reports.

The system also provides a statistical report on the following areas (health programs, mortality, morbidity, maternal, infant and death cases). It is presented in a tabular layout and the system can also produce a real-time report in the form graphs that makes it easier for the administration to interpret the data.

Significance of the study

The study is beneficial to the following:

Hospital Management
Implementing an automated system will be able to help the management in accessing records with accuracy, accessibility and security. It will also provide effective and efficient report processing which critical in the decision making of the management.
Employees/Personnel
It will help them to deliver services faster in more organized manner, accurate and more convenient.
Patient/Clientele
By adopting automated system, the patient/clientele can get their records in just short period of time.

Software Designing and Development

The traditional Waterfall Method was first considered. But then Prototype Model was also considered since the system is actually based on the response of the user. Each developer worked on different specific part of the program, one was doing the layout of the forms, one was doing the layout of the reports, one was doing the database and one was doing the codes. There was also a constant communication with the user thus they were able to test and be able to improve and modify the software as it was created. But since it was initially started with the traditional Waterfall method from planning to analysis, and additional requirements was also set by the client as the system develop, the Modified Waterfall Method was decided.

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

System Deployment
The proposed Patient Record Keeping with Decision Support System will be installed in the information section of the hospital for easy data storage and data retrieving by the personnel.
Here are the lists of requirements during the implementation of the Patient Record Keeping with Decision Support

System Software Requirements

Operating system (OS). Windows XP/Vista/7/8.

People Requirements

Medical Record Personnel –They are the people who are in charge in record keeping. They must learn how to use the system since they are the ones assigned for encoding and retrieving patients’ data as well as the statistical reports needed.
