Capstone Project Monitoring System ER Diagram

Capstone Project Monitoring System ER Diagram

This article will walk you through the process of creating an entity relationship diagram, often known as an ERD, for the project entitled Capstone Project Monitoring System.

Capstone Project Monitoring System Description

It is a web-based program that helps project managers, advisers and students to keep track of the status of their projects and verify that they are on track to fulfil their deadlines. Capstone Project Monitoring System (CPMS) Managers/Advisers/Students can use the system to set project milestones and track the progress of each milestone as it is reached. Management can also establish tasks and track the progress of each activity through the use of this tool. Managers can also view the current status of the project team as well as the status of their individual tasks through the CPMS. It is the goal of the CPMS to assist project managers in staying organized and keeping track of their projects.

A capstone project monitoring system has several advantages, which might be listed as follows:

  1. First and foremost, it can assist in ensuring that the capstone project is done on time and within budget constraints. It can aid in the identification and resolution of any potential difficulties or issues that may develop during the course of the project’s implementation.
  2. It can aid in the production of a high-quality final product.
  3. It can assist in ensuring that all parties involved are satisfied with the end product or service.

Capstone Project Monitoring System ERD

This is the first phase of the development of the Capstone Project Monitoring System, which will eventually be used as the basis for the production of the actual database that will be used by the system.

We will develop an entity relationship diagram for the Capstone Project Monitoring System and describe the steps involved in creating the diagram.

Let us begin with the symbols that are used in the ER Diagram.

The rectangle shape represents the entity that is being shown in the diagram below. At some point in the future, we will use this entity to make a database table for our Capstone Project Monitoring System.

The shape of a diamond can show how a relationship works, like how it fits together. A lot will depend on this. A primary key to foreign keys relationship is often the best way to do this.

The shape of the oval is a way to show the attribute for the entities specified. Columns or fields will be added to each table in the Capstone Project Monitoring System, and this will be the case.

We will follow the 3 basic rules in creating the ER Diagram.

  1. Identify all the entities.
  2. Identify the relationship between entities and
  3. Add meaningful attributes to our entities.

Step 1. In the Capstone Project Monitoring System we have the following entities:

  • User
  • User Group
  • Feature Access
  • Adviser
  • Group Member Info
  • Group
  • Completed Capstone
  • Milestone
  • Milestone Details

In line with our design, the Capstone Project Monitoring System is made up of nine components or entities. When we design and develop the Capstone Project Monitoring System database schema, the components that make up these parts will be the tables of our database tables.

To show how the whole system works, we’ll make a rectangle with the parts of the Capstone Project Monitoring System inside of it. Following is a diagram that shows the entity and things that are part of the Capstone Project Monitoring System.

Step 2. After we have specified our entities, it is time now to connect or establish a relationship among the entities.

  • The user belongs to a specific user group or category (1 to 1 relationship).
  • The user can access 1 or more features of the system (1 to many relationship).
  • The user can encode and update the information of adviser (1 to many relationship).
  • The list of completed papers includes the name of the capstone project adviser. The adviser can handle multiple groups depending on the rules and regulations of the department (1 to many relationship).
  • The group members will also be included in the completed capstone project (1 to 1 relationship).
  • Group code or information contains or has group members, usually capstone project has 4 members.
  • The capstone adviser will set and assign milestones or activities to the group (1 to many relationship).
  • Milestone information contains several details and updates (1 to many relationship).

Step 3. The last part of the ERD process is to add attributes to our entities.

Summary

A significant benefit of ERD is that it can aid in the improvement of communication and understanding amongst stakeholders, which can result in more efficient and effective system development overall. Improved system quality, decreased development time and costs, and a better grasp of system needs are some of the advantages of enterprise resource planning.

It will be a guide for the developers as they work on the project’s database. It would be great if you could share our post on how to make an ER Diagram for an OJT Records Monitoring System with other people.

In addition, we will also give you a PowerPoint or Video Presentation for the entire ER Diagram. Make sure you visit and subscribe to our YouTube channel to see the videos.
