How the project works

The project entitled Point of Sale System is an information system that manages the product records, sales and inventory of a company. The said system will be implemented in a fast food restaurant and the implementation of the project will be a great help to the owner/manager and staff of the organization.

This is how the project works:

  1. The administrator or the manager will need first to input all the product information.
  2. The admin will need to set who can access the system by registering the information of cashiers.
  3. Cashiers can only access the point of sale module of the system.
  4. Every transactions made in the POS module are connected to the inventory system.
  5. By the end of the day, the admin can print the income, sales and inventory report.

Significance of the Study

The study is beneficial to the following:

Owner. The system will give an efficient service to the customers and as well as to the management in general. The system can provide accurate, fast and reliable records compare to the manual process of transactions.

Staff. The study will give a hassle free in working the job rather using the manual process. The developed system help the working staff tracked the customer’s place of order.

Customer. The system can provide a fast and efficient service to them.

Developers. The researchers will be able to use their skills in programming for the development of a point of sale system.

Future Researchers. the output of this study will serve as a guide for them and will provide them the ideas on how to improve and enhance the project.

People ware for Development:

People ware refers to persons involved in the development and development of the system. Following are the People-ware of the proposed system:

People ware for development:

Programmer. The one who writes code for the proposed system.

QA Specialist. Responsible for checking system design based on the client requirements.

People ware for Implementation:

Manager/Owner. Manages the entire operation of the business organization.

Staff/Encoder. Encodes the information and performs the sales transaction on the customers.

Mobile Food Ordering Application Using Android OS Platform

According to Michael Yosep Ricky et al. (2014), the growing number of restaurants makes restaurant development more competitive. Therefore, all restaurants keep improving their quality of service; one of the services is delivery order. Delivery order service offered by a number of restaurants is by making order through mobile phone. By following the technology development, some popular restaurants offered website as a choice for making orders in online mode. Moreover, not all ordering food websites provide pictures and menus descriptions for its customer (www.epj-conferences.org).

Test Plan

To test the system, we asked three IT Experts to validate the functionality of the system and to ensure that the system met its objectives and specifications by evaluating the following: the program design for its objectivity, validity, effectiveness, and completeness of the system. McCall’s Software Quality Model Standard was used measuring tool in the Expert Testing.

Testing

The researchers asked Three different IT Experts to conduct initial testing on the develop system. The Experts rated based on McCall’s Software Quality Model and the Grand Mean was 3.89 which was interpreted as Good. After complying the suggestions and comments of the Experts the final testing was conducted. The Grand Mean was 4.2 which was interpreted as Very Good.
