Vehicles are not only considered a luxury but a necessity for almost everyone. The possibility of crimes such as vehicle theft is associated with having a vehicle. Vehicle theft crimes are still common nowadays, causing vehicle owners to be concerned about their vehicles’ security.

The capstone project, “GPS-based Vehicle Theft Detection System using GSM Technology” is purposely designed for vehicle owners. The system will detect invalid access on vehicles and automatically send an SMS to the owner of the vehicle containing the location of the vehicle that can be traced using GPS. The method will aid in the prevention and reduction of vehicle theft.

Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) will be used to develop the system. The software development technique is made up of several stages that researchers must complete to produce a successful system. After the development, it will be presented to the respondents and intended users, and IT experts. The system will be checked, tested, and evaluated. The evaluation will further enhance the operation and functionality of the system.

The implementation of the system will help vehicle owners strengthen the security of their vehicles. The system will alarm the vehicle owners in cases of unauthorized access in their vehicles. The owners will install a GSM system in the vehicle that will detect unauthorized access and automatically send an SMS to the vehicle’s owner with the vehicle’s location. GPS may be used to conveniently track the location.

The system is highly recommended for its efficiency and reliability in detecting and preventing vehicle theft cases. The said system is an effective tool that helps owners secure the safety of their vehicles.

General Objective – The main goal of the project is to design and implement a system that will aid in the detection and prevention of car theft by issuing a warning and sending the vehicle’s GPS-traceable location via GSM technology.
