Data Types in Visual Basic 6.0

Data type is a storage format that can contain range of values. A data type in simplest form is to determine what kind of data it can store. Just like every other programming languages, Visual Basic 6 has its own Data Types.

Note: declaring the type of your variable or field is important because every data type has its own memory size, by using a suitable data type for your variable and field can save a memory on your system.

Science Learning Games using Visual Basic 6

The Science Learning Games was developed to enhance the interest of students in their science subject and to give science teacher/s another method of teaching. The researchers used Waterfall Model in developing the Science game. In this methodology, the software evolved as a result of shared information between the respondents and the researchers. The science teacher requires that the content of the system would be based on their teaching outline and the rest of the system requirements were establish by the researchers.

HTML Page Structure

HTML Page Structure

This lesson will discuss about the basic structure of a HTML document.

Below is an example of simple HTML page.

<html>
<head>
<title>This is my HTML document</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1>This is a heading</h1>
<p>This is a paragraph.</p>
</body>
</html>

Java reserved words

In computer programming, reserved words are those words that are already used by the syntax of that programming language; it can’t be used as identifiers (e.g., name of variable, function name, methods and classes).

Java has its own reserved words. The letters in a reserved word are always in lowercase. They can’t be used for anything other than their intended use.

Visual Basic 6 IDE (Integrated Development Environment)

Before I show you the IDE of Visual Basic 6 let us first define what IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is.

(Integrated Development Environment) is a term used in programming that facilitates application development. It is a GUI based application that provides many features for authoring, modifying, compiling, deploying and debugging software.

IDE usually consists of a source code editor, compiler, debugger, etc.

Some IDEs are designed for multiple-language such as Eclipse and Netbeans while others are set for a specific type or programming languages like Xcode and Microsoft Visual Studio.

HTML Tags and Elements

HTML Tags and HTML Elements

HTML Tags and HTML elements they are commonly defined as same thing, but actually they’re not. HTML Tags are surrounded with brackets (<) (>) and in between those bracket is what we call keywords. The two brackets and keyword between them are known as a tag. Example of a HTML Tag is <html>.

There are lots of HTML Tags, and they all come in pairs; the start tag <html> and the end tag </html>, they are also called the opening and closing tags.

Introduction to C#

Getting Started with C#

C# (pronounced as C Sharp) is one of the programming language developed by Microsoft that is implemented in .Net Framework so therefore you must install the .Net Framework on your unit to run the applications written in C#.

  • C# is also an object oriented programming that supports all key object oriented concepts such as Polymorphism, Inheritance and Encapsulation (PIE).
  • Its development team is led by Anders Hejlsberg.
  • The programming language C# derives from C and C++
  • The latest stable released of C#.5.0 was on August 15, 2012.
  • The same with other .Net Programming Languages there are two main editors for development of C#: the latest version of Visual Studio which is the paid version, Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 and the free of cost the Visual Studio Express Edition 2013

Introduction to Visual Basic .Net

Introduction to Visual Basic .Net

Microsoft Visual Basic .Net is a high level programming language used to create Graphical User Interface application (GUI) intended to run on Microsoft Operating Systems alongside with its integrated development environment (IDE).
VB.Net is implemented on the .Net Framework which includes hundreds of classes and library that provides data access, data connectivity, web application development and network communications.

The Programming language was first released on 2002 as the successor of its classic version of Visual Basic.

There are to 2 editors for developing Visual Basic .Net: the latest version of Visual Studio which is the paid version, Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 and the free of cost the Visual Studio Express Edition 2013.

Advantages of Visual Basic .Net over classic Visual Basic (VB6)

Visual Basic .Net has a lot of programming concepts incorporated into it: Polymorphism, Inheritance and Encapsulation (PIE), operation overloading,  threading, data binding, class-level attributes and operations.

Visual Basic .Net is the future development tool for Windows together with other .Net Programming languages. Visual Basic 6 is still supported on Windows 8 but I don’t think it will be supported in the future.

In general Visual Basic .Net has the following advantages over Visual Basic 6
• Better Integration
• Better Scalability
• Better Performance
• Better Security

Hardware requirements
• 1.6 GHz or faster processor
• 1 GB of RAM (1.5 GB if running on a virtual machine)
• 20 GB of available hard disk space
• 5400 RPM hard disk drive
• DirectX 9-capable video card that runs at 1024 x 768 or higher display resolution

Grade Management System using Visual Basic 6

Objectives of the Study

The main purpose of the study is to develop a Student Grade Management System that will promote awareness and transparency for the students, faculty, and school administrators to help them improve in monitoring their academic performances and thereby contribute to the school’s progress.

Significance of the Study

Student Grade Management System will bring significance to the following:

Students. This will help students’ awareness in their academic performances, and will serve as their personal reference in evaluating how they performed academically.

Faculty. Gives reliable information in tracing their students’ academic performances, and serve as basis on the program development to attain high quality education.

Automated Entrance Examination System

Through the use of Automated Entrance Examination System, it will provide faster transaction and results of the test is generated in less time.

Functionality

The system is a network-based system; it has a server side and a client side.

The server part of the system will manage all of the questions, for security reasons the administrator of the system is one who can add, update and delete the test questions. The examination result will be automatically generated after students have done taking the exam.

The client side is where the students will take the exam. The questions are randomly generated on each machine or computer, meaning the question displayed in your monitor will not be the same on another, so cheating is impossible (maybe).
